The Department of Anthropology offers scholarships to the Archaeological Field School and funding for individual undergraduate archaeological field research projects through the Brian Daniel Gumbert Memorial Fund. This fund was initiated in 1998 to honor the memory of the late Brian Daniel Gumbert, a professional archaeologist who received his A.B. in Anthropology from the University of Georgia in 1986 and was a member of the 1985 Archaeological Field School.
Archaeological Field School Scholarship:
Cash scholarships will be awarded annually for approximately two to four students. Applicants should submit a letter describing their interests and experience, explaining why they need a scholarship, and why they are interested in the field of archaeology.

Requests for individual field research project funds may be made at any time during the year by submitting a letter explaining the proposed project to the Archaeology Faculty Committee. Inquiries should be directed to Dr. Mark Williams.
