Charles Hudson Anthropology Department Excellence in Teaching Award

Statement of Purpose: The purpose of the Charles Hudson Anthropology Department Excellence in Teaching Award is to identify and recognize demonstrated excellence in teaching by graduate students serving as teaching assistants in any setting for which undergraduate students earn academic credit from the University of Georgia (e.g., lecture or laboratory format, field school, small-group discussion). The eligibility criteria and application format of the Hudson Award are intended to identify students who meet the nomination criteria for the Office of Instructional Support and Development's Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award (OISD). The award is competitive and selection is made by the Departmental Awards Committee in time to develop application that will be forwarded to OSID by their January deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must have had significant teaching responsibilites in courses credited to the Department of Anthropology for at least two terms since January of the calendar year in which the student is applying.
  • The completed application must be submitted by the deadline in the appropriate format. This deadline will typically be during exam week of the Fall semester, though it may change in response to changes in the OSID deadline.
  • Previous recipients of the award are not eligible.
  • The applicant must be a graduate student in good standing who is currently enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Georgia.
